A video of former Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Amarjit Singh Dulat losing his cool during an interview is going viral on social media (here, here, and here). In the video, he denies visiting Pakistan, pulls off his mic, throws it aside, and shouts at the interviewer. The video also carries the Aaj Tak logo, anchor Anjana Om Kashyap’s photo, and text that reads, “Aaj Tak reporter slapped in podcast.” Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The video shows former RAW chief Amarjit Singh Dulat losing his cool on a journalist during an Aaj Tak podcast.

Fact: The video does not show former RAW chief Amarjit Singh Dulat losing his cool on a journalist during an Aaj Tak podcast. It shows him losing his cool during an interview with Bharat Raftar TV journalist Jitesh Jethanandani in Jaipur in May 2025, in response to repeated questions about his alleged visit to Pakistan. Both Jethanandani and Aaj Tak clarified that the incident involved Bharat Raftar TV, not Aaj Tak. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to an extended version of the same video on Bharat Raftar TV’s YouTube channel, published on 22 May 2025. Upon reviewing the video, we focused on the 47:56 timestamp, where Bharat Raftar TV’s journalist and chief editor Jitesh Jethanandani says he had received intel that former RAW chief Amarjit Singh Dulat was recently in Pakistan. Dulat denied the claim, but Jethanandani kept questioning him, after which Dulat lost his cool.

The description of the video states that it features India’s former RAW chief Amarjit Singh Dulat, who used abusive language towards the editor of Bharat Raftar, and discusses topics including The Kashmir Files, POK, Pahalgam, the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and various issues related to Kashmir.

Exchange4Media published an article on 22 May 2025 reporting this incident. According to the report, the interview took place at a hotel near the Pink City Press Club in Jaipur. It also mentions that Jitesh Jethanandani, the journalist at the centre of the controversy, has over 13 years of experience with both regional and national news outlets. He has served as Rajasthan Bureau Chief at TV9 Bharatvarsh and held editorial roles at IANS, India News, First India News, and JAN TV. He currently serves as Director at Bharat Raftaar TV.

Talking to India Today, journalist Jitesh Jethanandani stated that he had set up this interview in May 2025 when Dulat arrived in Jaipur for an event. He mentioned that he is the Director of Bharat Raftar and that the interview was conducted for this channel. He also clarified that he has never worked with AajTak.

On 23 September 2025, Aaj Tak and journalist Jitesh Jethanandani both posted on X clarifying that it was neither the Aaj Tak channel nor an Aaj Tak journalist at whom former RAW chief A. S. Dulat had lashed out.

To sum up, Former RAW chief A.S. Dulat did not lash out at an Aaj Tak journalist; it happened with Bharat Raftar TV.
