A video showing a massive gathering on roads is being shared on social media claiming that it’s the crowd gathered at Rahul Gandhi’s Bharath Jodo Nyay Yatra. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

A large crowd of people in a city

Claim: The video shows crowd gathered at Rahul Gandhi’s Bharath Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Fact: The video dates to 2023 and shows the Jagannath Puri Yatra in Odisha. It has nothing to do with Rahul Gandhi’s Bharath Jodo Nyay Yatra. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

On conducting a reverse image search by segmenting the video into keyframes, we discovered a video on Instagram posted by @rahulnairphotographyz, who shared the identical video on his account on 21 June 2023. A comparison between the viral video and the Instagram reel can be seen below.

Additionally, we sought news reports to confirm the commencement date of the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra. As per the reports (here and here), the yatra commenced on 20 June 2023 and concluded on 28 June 2023. This timeframe closely aligns with when the Instagram user shared the video on his account. On the other hand, the second edition of the Bharat Jodo Yatra is named the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra‘ and commenced on 14 January 2024 and concludes on 20 March 2024

To confirm the video’s authenticity, we used Google Maps to find the location and compared images of shops shown in the viral video. Below is a comparison between the location shown in the viral video and the same area on Google Maps.
