A video (here, here and here) is going viral on social media showing Diljit Dosanjh, the prominent Indian singer known for performing concerts worldwide, praising the Uttar Pradesh government for its arrangements. It is claimed that he is specifically appreciating the UP government for the preparations for the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.
Claim: The video shows singer Diljit Dosanjh praising the U.P. government for the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela arrangements.
Fact: This video clip where Diljit Dosanjh praised the UP government for the arrangements at his Lucknow concert held on 22 November 2024 during the Dil-Luminati Tour. There is no mention of the Maha Kumbh Mela in the video. Hence the claim is MISLEADING.
To verify the truth, we conducted a reverse image search, which led us to a nearly 40-minute-long YouTube video of Diljit Dosanjh titled Coffee With Diljit Dosanjh | Advisory EP 2025, uploaded on 09 February 2025. In the video, viewers were asking him in the comment section about the concerts he has performed worldwide and his future plans. When asked about his Lucknow show, he responded, which is the part seen in the viral clip. At the 18:27 timestamp, the viral video begins, where he discusses his show arrangements. Here, he mentioned that UP and Ludhiana had the best arrangements and thanked the UP government. He then continued, stating that Ahmedabad was also decent, while Chandigarh had some issues. It is clear that the viral clip was edited and taken out of context from this live video.
The same video was also uploaded on his Instagram account on 09 February 2025, where he went live while making coffee and interacted with viewers who were asking questions in the comment section about his past events and upcoming performances. Nowhere in this video did he mention the Maha Kumbh Mela.
Upon further research, we found that Diljit performed in 10 Indian cities during his Dil-Luminati Tour (October–December 2024). As part of this tour, he performed in Lucknow on 22 November 2024, at Ekana International Football Stadium. The viewer in the live video was asking about this particular show, and in response, Diljit praised the UP government for the arrangements. He even expressed his gratitude to the UP government and police for the excellent arrangements in a post on X.
The Maha Kumbh Mela is set to conclude on 25 February 2025, and we found no evidence that Diljit Dosanjh commenting on the event. The viral video is unrelated to the Kumbh Mela and is being misrepresented.
