A video is being shared on social media claiming it shows the recent visuals of Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan happily watching the live visuals of a police lathi charge on unemployed youth. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video showing Shivraj Singh Chouhan watching the live visuals of police lathi charge on unemployed youth.

Fact: The video shared in the post is an edited one. The original video shows Shivraj Singh Chouhan watching the live visuals of PM Narendra Modi interacting with the people of MP’s Betul district, as part of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in June 2021. The visuals seen on the television show old visuals of a police lathi charge on unemployed youth in Bhopal and another old incident of a tribal being dragged by a car on the suspicion of theft. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, we could not find any reliable sources on the internet. Even when we searched with relevant keywords on the internet,  we could not find any relevant sources on the internet.

When we searched for this video on the official social media handles of Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s office, we found the video on the official Instagram handle of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Shivraj Singh Chouhan published the video describing it as the visuals of him watching the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme live on 27 June 2021.  The original video shows Shivraj Singh Chouhan watching the visuals of PM Narendra Modi interacting with the people of MP’s Betul district as part of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan through the Instagram post mentioned that PM Narendra Modi interacted with the people of Dularia village and cleared the confusion and fears over vaccination. The original video does not show Shivraj Singh Chouhan happily watching the visuals of the Police lathi charge on unemployed youth.

The visuals seen on the television in the viral post are related to old and unrelated incident of a police lathi charge on unemployed youth in Bhopal and an old incident of a tribal being dragged by a car on the suspicion of theft. The visuals of Shivraj Singh Chouhan watching ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme is edited to include these unrelated visuals and create the viral post.

Lately, unemployed youth across the Madhya Pradesh marched to Bhopal to protest unemployment and the inaction of the government. The Bhopal city police lathi charged and detained several unemployed youth who were protesting lack of recruitment in the government departments in the last four years. However, the video shared in the post is edited and has nothing to do with the recent unemployed youth protests in Bhopal.

To sum it up, an edited video is shared as the recent visuals of Shivraj Singh Chouhan smiling while watching the visuals of a police lathi charge on unemployed youth.
