A screenshot through a post is being widely shared on social media claiming, PM Modi said that he used to ask for lassi from Jat’s house and that he lived in Jatland for 20 years. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Claim: Screenshot of PM Modi saying, “I used to ask for Lassi from Jat’s house. I lived in Jatland for 20 years.”

Fact: The viral screenshot had been edited from a screenshot of a video report by India TV. PM Modi was addressing the National Cadet Corps Rally on 28 January 2022 where he talked about strengthening the NCC but there was no mention of drinking lassi from a Jat’s house or living in Jatland for 20 years. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

There is a logo of India TV on the top and bottom right corners of the screenshot. When reverse image search is done on the screenshot with relevant keywords, a similar screenshot was found in a video report by India TV. The video report was uploaded on YouTube on 28 January 2022. However, it did not say anything about Jats or the Jatland. The YouTube video is about Prime Minister’s address at an NCC Rally in Delhi.

When the viral screenshot is compared with the screenshot in the India TV video, it can be clearly seen that PM Modi did not say, “I used to ask for Lassi from Jat’s house. I lived in Jatland for 20 years.” These words were edited on the screenshot of the India TV YouTube video.

PM Modi addressed the National Cadet Corps Rally in New Delhi on 28 January 2022. He spoke about strengthening the National Cadet Corps in the country. There was no mention of drinking lassi from a Jat’s house or living in Jatland for 20 years in his full address at that venue. We could not find any evidence online, of Narendra Modi saying, “I used to ask for Lassi from Jat’s house. I lived in Jatland for 20 years.”

To sum it up, this screenshot of Narendra Modi saying, “I used to ask for Lassi from Jat’s house. I lived in Jatland for 20 years” had been edited.
