An old video is falsely shared as visuals of women celebrating the victory of the BJP in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

A video of a few women having a feast is being shared with a claim that they are partying to celebrate the victory of the BJP in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. Let’s verify the authenticity of this claim through this fact-check article.

Claim: Video shows women partying after the BJP won the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections 2023.

Fact: The 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections polling was held on 17 November 2023, and the results were declared on 3 December 2023. The viral video has been available on the internet since at least 23 October 2023, which means this video has nothing to do with the MP election results. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To learn more details about the viral claim, we performed a reverse image search on a few of its keyframes. This search led us to several YouTube uploads (here and here) of the same video from October and November 2023.

This video uploaded on a YouTube channel named ‘Banjara Ashwitha’ was described as “Dasara Dawath”, which means a feast arranged to celebrate the Hindu festival Dasara. Dawat is an Urdu word which is popular in the Telangana region. This was uploaded on YouTube on 25 October 2023, and the results of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election were declared on 3 December 2023 (here and here).

We observed that the song in the background of this video is in Telugu, the language spoken in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Also, most of the videos on Ashwitha’s channel are in Telugu. Dasara was celebrated in 2023 on 23 October (here and here), and the video’s upload date is 25 October 2023. This could likely be a video shot during Dasara celebrations in Telangana.

Since the video predates the results of the MP election, which is being claimed as the context for the video, the claim is false.

To sum up, an old video is being shared as visuals of women celebrating the success of BJP in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh elections.
