A video is being circulated on social media, accompanied by a claim that the boy seen in the video cut the wrist of a girl after a quarrel. The post further describes it as a Jihadi incident, identifying the girl as a Hindu and the boy as a Muslim. This article aims to fact-check these claims.

Claim: A Muslim boy cut a Hindu girl’s wrist in Delhi after an argument broke between them. 

Fact: The police clarified that the girl cut her own wrist in the presence of her father after an argument with a Muslim boy. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

Although the girl was injured in this incident, it was a self-inflicted wound, and police confirmed to us that the boy did not cut her wrist.

To learn more about this incident, we performed a keyword search on the internet, leading us to a news report published by Jagran. The incident occurred in Delhi’s Paharganj area. Reportedly, the police stated that the girl cut her wrist after an argument with a Muslim boy. Both the boy and the girl knew each other, and the girl had come to the Paharganj area after getting angry with her family members.

Sharing this video, Journalist Sachin Gupta wrote on Twitter that the police investigation revealed no crime related to this incident, and the girl’s family has not complained.

Speaking to us, a police official from Paharganj Police Station said that the claims circulating on social media are distorted. The girl herself cut her wrist, and her father was also present when this happened. He said that no complaint was made in this regard.
