A post with a video is being shared on social media where Indian and Pakistani cricket fans are seen dancing to Jai Shree Ram song. The text on the video reads ‘The unity at MCG,’ claiming that this happened at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where India and Pakistan played the T20 cricket match that was held on 23 October 2022. This video is also being shared in news reports (here, here and here) about the cricket fans of both nations grooving to Bollywood songs. Let’s verify this video through this article.

Claim: India and Pakistani fans dancing to the ‘Jai Shree Ram’ song at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Fact: We found a lengthier version of the same video in which the actual song that plays in the background is Tare Gin Gin. The viral video was created by replacing this song with the Jai Shree Ram song. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

We ran a keyword search on Google to find the video’s veracity and were led to a lengthier version of the same video. In this video, people wearing India and Pakistan cricket jerseys can be seen dancing to a Punjabi song ‘Tare Gin Gin.’ These videos can be seen here and here.

A few other cricket fans have also shot videos (here and here) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground before the India- Pakistan Match on 23 October 2022. We can see the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 banner in all these videos. People can be seen dancing to the same song-‘Tare Gin Gin,’ in one such video.

To sum up, an edited video is peddled as Indian and Pakistani cricket fans dance to the Jai Shree Ram song at the MCG.
