In the context of the Los Angeles wildfires and animals being rescued (here, here, and here) by several people, a video(here, here, and here) allegedly showing firefighters rescuing animals is doing the rounds on social media. We verify the authenticity of this claim through this article.

An archive version of this post can be found here.

Claim:  Video of firefighters rescuing the animals stuck in the LA wildfires.

Fact: This is an AI-generated video. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To verify the claim’s authenticity, we conducted a reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video to determine if any media outlets had reported the incidents depicted in the viral video. The search did not yield any credible reports.

Upon reviewing the video, several inconsistencies were observed, which are commonly associated with videos generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. For instance, at various points, the wolves in the video appear to have multiple paws, which is strange.

To gather more information about the video, a reverse image search was performed using a few of its keyframes. This search revealed an Instagram post that credited another Instagram user, @Futureriderus, for the video.

Further investigation led to the Instagram page of @Futureriderus, where the original version of the viral video (archive link)was posted.

In a comment on their post, @Futureriderus stated that the video was created using artificial intelligence. This confirms that the viral video does not depict actual events but rather an artistic creation using AI tools.

Additionally, @Futureriderus’s bio identifies them as a ‘Digital Creator,’ and their Instagram page features many similar videos.

To sum up, the viral video does not show real footage of firefighters rescuing animals during the LA wildfires; it is AI-generated.
