A video (here, here, and here) shared on social media allegedly shows a UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) that crashed landed on a farmer’s field. In the video, we can see multiple clips in which a few men investigate the UFO. We fact-check this claim through this article.
Claim: Viral video shows a UFO that crashed onto a farmer’s land.
Fact: This is an AI-generated video. It was created by a VFX artist and a filmmaker who goes by the username @sybervisions_ on social media platforms. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the viral claim, we ran a keyword search on the internet to see if the media had reported the incident seen in the viral video. However, this search did not lead us to any credible news reports or official government sources confirming the presence of such a UFO on Earth.
Further, while inspecting the viral video, we found a few inconsistencies in the faces and hands of the people featured in the video. Such inconsistencies are generally found in AI-generated content. Also, the UFO seen in the viral clip changes in every shot and is not consistent throughout the video. This strongly suggested that the viral video may have been generated using Artificial Intelligence.
To check the same, we ran the viral video through an AI-content detection tool known as Hive Moderation. The analysis performed by Hive reported that there is a 99.3% likelihood of the viral video being an AI-generated one.
Furthermore, to find more details about the viral video, we performed another keyword search on the internet. This time we added the watermark text @sybervisions_ (this is also mentioned in the description section of the viral posts) in our keyword search which led us to the same video uploaded on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram by a VFX artist. Sybervisions uploaded this video with a title that reads ‘UFO crashes in Farmer’s Field.’
The username of this artist across these platforms is @sybervisions_. In these posts, we found several hashtags like #aihorror #ai #midjourneyai which clearly indicates that the video was made using AI. Sybervision mentioned on YouTube that this video is a ‘Short AI Film.’
We also found multiple posts on this artist’s social media pages that contained AI-generated content. Additionally, we reached out to ‘Sybervisions’ for their statement on this video. This article will be updated once they respond.
To sum up, a short film made with the help of AI is falsely shared as real-life footage of a UFO that crash-landed on Earth.
