A video of actor Anup Soni promoting an IPL betting Telegram channel belonging to one Rohit Khattar is being widely shared on social media. Let’s verify the authenticity of the video.

Fact: The voice of Anup Soni in the viral video is generated using AI voice cloning technology. In the original video, he is discussing a Crime Patrol episode. Anup Soni clarified that it was not his voice and intended to lodge a complaint against the video’s creator. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of the keyframes extracted from the viral video led us to the original video, which was posted on the LIV Crime YouTube channel on 22 July 2022, titled “मजबूरी कैसे बनी इन औरतों की कमज़ोरी? | Crime Patrol | Anup Soni On Mission.” Upon examination, we found that the introduction part of the video from 3:18 to 3:50 minutes was used in the viral video. In this original video, which belongs to the anthology series Crime Patrol, Anup Soni is seen talking about a lady named Sudha who is found lifeless in a temple. Nowhere in this video does he promote any betting-related Telegram channel. Upon closer inspection, we found that the audio in the viral video does not have lip sync, raising suspicions that the audio could have been altered using AI voice cloning.
We then examined the audio using the Hive Moderation AI detector tool, which showed that the audio in the clip is highly manipulated, with a confidence score of 99.9% indicating that the audio is AI-generated using voice cloning technology. Further examination of the viral video by the Deep Fake Analysis Unit (DAU) confirmed that Anup Soni’s voice was produced using generative AI.
Moreover, after learning about the viral video, Anup Soni clarified that it was not his voice and that he would lodge a complaint, as he never promoted these channels and urged people to stay vigilant.
To sum up, an AI-manipulated video of Anup Soni is being falsely shared as him promoting an IPL betting Telegram channel.
