A video (here, here and here) is currently circulating on social media platforms claiming to show the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, being detained by Delhi Police. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

An archived version of this can be seen here.

Claim: The visuals show Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann being detained by Delhi police.

Fact: The individual in the viral video is actually Harjot Singh Bains, the Education Minister of Punjab, not the CM Bhagwant Mann. Hence, the claim made in the post is rated as False.

To check the veracity of the claim, a reverse image search was performed on keyframes from the viral video. This led to news reports (here, here and here) containing the same video but identifying the person in the yellow turban as the Education Minister of Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains, not Bhagwant Mann. Reports suggest that Bains was arrested by Delhi Police while en route to meet the family of Delhi CM Kejriwal following his arrest.

This same video was also posted by the official, verified Facebook page of the Aam Aadmi Party, further confirming the identity of the detained individual as Harjot Singh Bains, who also tweeted about his detention.

To sum up, despite the social media claims, the individual shown in the video is not Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, but Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
