Claim: The video shows the National Highway number 44, located in Ladakh.

Fact: The roads seen in the viral video actually belong to a 240-kilometer-long road named Yaxi Highway, located in China. The viral video is not from Ladakh or India. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To check the veracity of the viral video, we performed a reverse image search on a few of its keyframes. This search led us to a few news reports (here, here, and here) published by the Chinese media that contained visuals of a bridge similar to the viral video.

As per these reports, the bridge seen in the viral video is the Yaxi highway road located in SouthWest China’s Sichuan province.

Visuals of the same Yaxi highway were also uploaded by the Chinese embassy in France on their ‘X’ page and by Huang Ping, Chinese Consul General in New York.

A comparison between the bridge seen in the viral video and the Yaxi highway bridge can be seen in the following collage.

Furthermore, you can notice Chinese text painted on the roads seen in the viral video, which is extremely uncommon to have on an Indian road. All of this evidence makes it clear that the viral video falsely claims that it shows National Highway 44 located in Ladakh, India.

In the past, when a video of a road located in China went viral on Indian social media sites, claiming those as visuals of NH44, Facly published a fact-check debunking the claim.

To sum up, a video of the Yaxi highway in China is falsely attributed to Ladakh, India.
