A video clip from 2016 falsely shared as ‘France President dancing with his current wife in 1988’

A video of a boy and a woman seen dancing together is being shared with the claim that it shows France President Emmanuel Macron dancing along with his current wife in 1988. Let’s analyze the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of French President Macron (42) and his current wife Brigitte Macron (67) dancing together in 1988.

Fact: The video clip is from 2016 episode of an American TV series – ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. The boy in the video is Jake Monreal and the woman with him is Jenna Johnson. So, the claim that the video is of France President Macron dancing with his current wife in 1988 is FALSE.   

When the screenshots of the clip are subjected to reverse image search, a longer version of the video was found. The video had the title ‘So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation – Jenna and Jake’s Ballroom Performance’. In the video, the part related to the clip can be seen between the duration 0:17 and 1:32. ‘So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation’ is the 13th season of an American dance competition show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. The 13th season was telecasted in 2016. In the clip used in the post, the boy is Jake Monreal and the woman dancing with him is Jenna Johnson. They were dancing to the song ‘Toca Toca’ by Fly project that was released in 2013.
