A video being shared on social media (here, here, and here) shows a delivery agent from an e-commerce platform unboxing a parcel at the time of delivery which is meant for a customer who had ordered a mobile phone. Upon opening the box, they allegedly find stones inside instead of the mobile phone. The post is shared claiming the incident to be real. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

Claim: The video shows a customer finding stones inside the parcel instead of the mobile phone they ordered from an e-commerce website.

Fact: The video does not depict a real incident; it is a scripted video. It was uploaded on the Facebook page of Social Message on 01 January 2025. The introduction section revealed that the videos posted on this page are scripted and created for the purpose of awareness or entertainment. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to the original video (archived) on the Facebook page of Social Message, posted on 01 January 2025, titled “Watch this video before shopping online, or you may regret it.”

After reviewing the Facebook page, we noticed that the introduction section states, “The videos posted on this page are scripted and created for awareness or entertainment. Be careful, friends.” We also noticed that the page has uploaded similar videos on its Facebook and YouTube channels (here and here).

It is important to note that there have been multiple incidents in the past (here, here, here, and here) where customers received stones or soap instead of phones from an e-commerce platform. However, the viral video is scripted and does not depict a real incident.
