A video (here, here, and here) allegedly showing a married couple with a huge age gap is doing the rounds on social media. Posts sharing the video claim that it features“A 76-year-old man named Rozob Ali married to a 12-year-old girl named Sakina Bibi.” We fact-check this claim through this article.
Claim: The video shows a 76-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl who are married to each other.
Fact: This is a fictional video made by a social media video creators who post such scripted videos on Facebook and YouTube. The couple featured in the video are just actors, not real. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the viral video, we performed a reverse image search leading us to the same video on YouTube uploaded by a channel named ‘MB TV.’ The About section of the channel states that it is an Entertainment channel.
This channel features many similar videos (here and here) of a person behind the camera questioning a married couple with a huge age gap. In one such video, it is mentioned that the video is a short film, which means that the video is scripted and not real. Further, we also found the girl featured in the viral video in another short film uploaded on ‘MB TV.’
Furthermore, an additional search revealed that the viral video was uploaded by several other social media ‘digital/video creators.’ A few of them posted the same video, while some were shot in a completely different background. However, all these videos feature the same couple (here and here). A digital creator named Dulal uploaded a couple of videos of the same couple to his Facebook page (here and here). Dual also uploads videos with similar storylines. One such video even features the same actress seen in the viral video.
A Facebook page named ‘Disha Media’ also uploaded the same scripted video on 29 September 2024. In the ‘Intro’ section of this page, it is clearly mentioned that the page was made for Entertainment and Educational purposes.
Another page of a ‘video creator’ named ‘Mkd Cd TV’ also uploaded a video of this couple. They also uploaded the same video on their YouTube channel. The actress featured in the viral video also acted in a few other videos (here and here) uploaded by this channel.
All the pages and channels that uploaded these videos feature scripted ‘funny’ videos according to their Intro/About pages. This makes it clear that the viral video does not depict a real incident and that it is only a scripted video.
To sum up, the viral video claiming to show a 76-year-old man and his 12-year-old wife is scripted.
