A video (here and here) is going viral on social media, purportedly showing passengers arguing over seat 11A, which is claimed to have been occupied by a survivor of the recent Ahmedabad flight crash. Let’s examine the facts behind this video.
Claim: Video shows passengers arguing over seat 11A in a flight, which is reportedly occupied by the sole survivor of the recent Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad.
Fact: The viral video does not depict a real incident. It is scripted and was originally posted by Fly-High Institute, Nagpur, as part of a training demonstration. Hence the claim is FALSE
To verify the claim, we conducted a relevant keyword search to check if any such incident had been reported; however, no relevant news reports were found. We then performed a reverse image search, which led us to the original version of the video posted on Instagram.
The video was originally uploaded on 16 June 2025 by Fly-High Institute, Nagpur, in collaboration with social media content creator Rutu Ranteke. Rutu is known for creating and posting scripted comedy videos on her Instagram page.
Further investigation revealed that Fly-High Institute’s website and Instagram bio state the institute offers courses in aviation, hospitality, and travel & tourism. Their social media platforms are filled with scripted demonstration videos (here and here) intended to train students for real-world scenarios. The viral video appears to be one such training simulation.
The viral video is also scripted — a fact confirmed by the video’s original caption, which describes the scene as a mock scenario where a woman interrupts a magician’s mid-flight performance, followed by a staged verbal exchange and flight attendants stepping in.
Additionally, the institute’s Instagram page features similar demonstration videos, some of which include Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant and social media influencer Deepak Kalal. Factly had earlier debunked a previous video featuring Deepak Kalal that was falsely circulated as a real event.
To sum up, a scripted video is falsely being shared as a real incident of passengers fighting over seat 11A on a flight.
