Fact: The video shared in the post shows an old incident that took place at Kharwa village in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan in 2021. A man named Ajit Cheeta killed his two daughters and injured his wife alleged to be because of unemployment and financial crisis. Ajit belongs to Cheetah Mehrat community that comprises of both Hindus and Muslims. The accused name is not Ajmal Khan and there is no communal angle in the incident. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, a video showing similar visuals was found published by a social media user on 14 July 2021. The user published the video revealing that a man, residing in Kharwa village within the Ajmer district, tragically took the lives of his two daughters due to the distress caused by his unemployment. Dainik Bhaskar also reported the same by publishing a video showing similar visuals in July 2021.
Reporting the complete details of the incident, ‘Patrika’ published an article on 15 July 2021. As per the article, on 14 July 2021, Ajit Cheetah, a resident of Bhawanipura Colony of Kharwa village, slit the throats of his two daughters and injured his wife due to the distress allegedly caused by unemployment and financial crisis. The accused reportedly injured himself after attacking his family. The locals handed over the accused Ajit Cheetah to the Beawar Sadar police station after the incident. While a daughter died on the spot, another daughter died while taking her to the hospital. Reporting the same, several other news sites have also published articles in July 2021. Ajmer police published a screenshot of the FIR filed related to this incident on 14 July 2023. In the FIR copy, the accused name was clearly mentioned as Ajit Cheetah. Ajit Cheetah belongs to the Cheetah Mehrat community which comprises both Hindus and Muslims. According to the police’s preliminary investigation, Ajit had Hindu relatives in his family, yet he identified himself as a Muslim. Speaking to the Quint, Surendra Singh Jodha, the investigating officer from Beawar Sadar police station, confirmed that the incident was not communal in nature.
