Claim: Recent video of BJP leader threatening people in Gujarat.
Fact: The post shared a one-year-old video showing Abhesinh Tadvi, a BJP MLA from the Sankheda constituency, losing his cool and threatening a man during an election campaign ahead of the Gujarat District Panchayat polls in February 2021. The video does not show a recent incident. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
On observing the video carefully, one could see the ‘Gujarat Tak’ watermark on the video. The ‘Gujarat Tak’ news channel published this video on 17 November 2022 mentioning it as the visuals of BJP MLA Abhesinh Tadvi threatening voters from Chhotaudepur’s Sankheda assembly constituency.
When we searched for more sources using keywords on the internet, a video with similar visuals was found published by the ‘ABP Asmita’ news website on 25 February 2021. This news website reported it as the visuals of Sankheda MLA Abhesinh Tadvi getting angry over people questioning him. This incident reportedly took place during an election campaign at Haripura village in the Chhotaudepur district of Gujarat.
Reporting details of this incident, several news websites published articles and videos in February 2021. They can be seen here, here and here. According to these reports, during a village meeting conducted ahead of the district panchayat polls in February 2021, BJP MLA Abhesinh Tadvi became furious over a man for questioning him about the construction of houses. Shouting at the man to keep quiet, and then asking him to leave the meeting, Abhesinh Tadvi told others present at the meeting that all the work will be done and that he has made all efforts. Further, Abhesinh Tadvi threatened people that there will be no change in the constituency if he doesn’t get votes in the panchayat elections.
