Fact: The video shows an old incident that took place at Rewa city in Madhya Pradesh. In April 2020, Rewa police personnel had stopped the lockdown violators and offered Aarti as a punishment for them. This video has nothing to do with the Karnataka police personnel. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, similar visuals were found in old Facebook videos posted in April 2020. They can be seen here and here. One of the videos had mentioned it as the visuals of police personnel offering aarti to the lockdown violators in Rewa city, Madhya Pradesh.
On observing carefully, we could see a medical store board with the name ‘Golden Medical Hall’ in the video. When we looked for the Golden Medical store in Rewa city, similar images of the ‘Golden Medical Hall’ were found on the ‘Just Dial’ website. This ‘Golden Medical Hall’ is located at Sirmour road in Rewa city.
When we searched for more sources using these keywords, we found similar visuals in a video published by the ‘Webdunia Hindi’ YouTube channel on 12 April 2020. They mentioned it as the visuals of Madhya Pradesh police personnel offering Aarti to the lockdown violators as a punishment. Reporting the same, the ‘Zee Madhya Pradesh’ news channel had shared the same video recently on their website. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the video shared in the post is an old one and has nothing to do with the Karnataka police personnel.
