Fact: This incident took place in 2014. The accused in this assault was arrested and punished by the court in 2015. West Godavari police through their tweet clarified that few social media users were sharing this 2014 incident photos as related to a recent incident and were spreading false news. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When we searched for the details of photos shared in the post, we found that West Godavari Police recently made a clarification through a tweet about these photos. In the tweet, West Godavari police clarified that these photos show an old incident that took place at Eluru one Town police station range in 2014. The accused in this assault was arrested and punished by the court in 2015. West Godavari Police shared the same information on their official Facebook page.

West Godavari police also said that the images of vandalized Hanuman idol going viral on social media are old and that they have filed an FIR on a social media user for spreading false news.
