A post with a video is being widely shared on Facebook with the claim that it shows a woman protestor being slapped by Delhi police during the protests against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Let’s analyze the authenticity of the claim in the post.

Claim: Video of a woman protestor being slapped by Delhi police during the protests against the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Fact: The video shows a woman protestor being slapped by Delhi police during the protests against the rape of a five-year-old ‘Gudiya’ in 2013. So, the claim is MISLEADING.

The video in the post has the watermark of ‘NDTV’. So, when searched on YouTube with the keywords ‘Delhi police slapped woman protestor ndtv’, the same video was found. The video had the timestamp ‘April 19, 2013’ and it had the following description- ‘Amid large protests at the Delhi hospital where a five-year-old rape survivor is fighting for her life, a police officer has been filmed slapping a woman demonstrator’.

From the April 20, 2013 article of ‘India Today’, it was found that demonstrations were held at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Delhi) against the rape of a five-year-old girl ‘Gudiya’ in East Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar.
