A video depicting a Qantas Airways flight landing at an airport, only to immediately take off again due to another plane from Emirates Airways accidentally entering the runway, is being widely shared on social media claiming it as a real incident. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Visuals of Qantas Airways flight taking off after an Emirates Airways plane suddenly entered the runway.

Fact: The video does not show any real- life incident. It is a clip from a flight simulator video game. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Initially, we conducted an internet search using relevant keywords to determine whether any recent incident of this nature had occurred. But couldn’t find any media reports about such an event.  Furthermore, both Qantas and Emirates Airways have not issued any statements regarding such an occurrence.

Subsequently, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes extracted from the viral video. This search led us to discover a high-quality version of the same video, which had been uploaded on YouTube by a channel called “Aviation for Everyone” on 24 July 2023.

Upon closely examining the disparities within the video, it becomes evident that it is not authentic footage, but rather an animated creation. Furthermore, the video’s description explicitly refers to it as a segment from the video game titled “X-Plane Flight Simulator.” The channel’s description also clarifies its content is comprised of clips from various video games, all intended solely for entertainment purposes.

To sum it up, a clip from a video game is shared as a real incident of a near-miss accident between two planes on a runway.
