A viral video (here and here) of social media allegedly shows the arrest of six accused in the UG NEET paper leak scandal hiding in the Congress party’s Deoghar office located in Jharkhand. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: This video shows the UG NEET paper leak scandal accused getting arrested from the Congress party’s office in Jharkhand’s Deoghar.

Fact: This video actually shows police taking the six accused in the NEET case out of the LNJP hospital in Patna. Hence, the claim made in the post is False

To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search on the internet, leading us to an ‘X’ post by the news agency ANI on 23 June 2024.

This post contained the viral video, and according to its description, it was filmed when the six accused in the UG NEET case were being taken out of the LNJP hospital in Patna.

As per an Economic Times report, they were taken to the LNJP hospital, Patna, for a medical examination.

Both ANI and Economic Times reported that the accused were arrested in Jharkhand’s Deoghar on 21 June 2024. This makes it evident that the LNJP hospital building (here and here)in the viral video is being falsely shared as the Congress party office in Deoghar, Jharkhand.

A further search revealed (here, here, and here) that these accused were arrested at a ‘safe house’ near AIIMS, Deoghar, located in Jharkhand, not in Bihar, where the LNJP hospital is located.

According to the Jharkhand police, they were hiding in the house of a man named Jhunu Singh.

Nowhere in the reports was it mentioned that they were arrested from the Congress party office of Deoghar.

To sum up, the viral video shows six accused in the UG NEET case being taken from a hospital in Patna after a medical examination, not from the Congress party office in Deoghar, Jharkhand.
