Claim: The queen of the United Kingdom invited a Prime Minister of India (Narendra Modi) to her home for the first time in history.
Fact: The visuals show Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to an official dinner hosted by the Queen of Denmark Margrethe II on the occasion of the golden jubilee of her reign. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Danish Queen’s residence. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
On performing a reverse image search of the keyframes of the video, we found that the video clip is from the foreign visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Denmark in 2022 (here, here, and here).
Prime Minister paid a visit to the queen of Denmark during his official visit to Germany, Denmark, and France from 02-04 May 2022. PM Modi visited Denmark from 3-4 May 2022 at the invitation of Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen to hold a discussion on bilateral issues. Post the discussion, Modi was invited to the official dinner hosted by Queen Margrethe II on the occasion of the golden jubilee of her reign. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark mentioned that it was the first time in 20 years that an Indian Prime Minister had made an official visit to Denmark. Before PM Modi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Dr. Manmohan Singh had visited Denmark during their tenure as Prime Minister of India.
To check if PM Modi was invited by the Queen of the UK to her palace, we found that Prime Minister Modi was invited to Buckingham Palace several times (here and here).
However, this is not the first time the queen has hosted a Prime Minister of India in her place. Queen Elizabeth had hosted former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Buckingham Palace in 1969.
