Fact: These visuals depict an incident of domestic violence reported in Etawah, UP. However, there is no communal angle to the incident as the couple belong to Hindu faith. This is evident from the statements of the victim and the police. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
The viral visuals indeed depict a case of domestic violence in Etawah, where a husband physically attacks his wife. However, it is important to note that the incident has no religious angle, as both husband and wife belong to the same faith.
A reverse image search of the screenshots of the viral video yielded news reports that reported the same visuals (here, here & here). As per the reports, visuals depict Shivam Yadav, a resident of Naharia village in Bakewar region, physically assaulting his wife Jyoti due to dowry demands. Jyoti’s mother, Munni Devi, revealed that Jyoti and Shivam tied the knot five years ago in accordance with Hindu customs, and upon discovering the incident, Munni Devi promptly filed a complaint at the Naharia police station.
In response to a tweet sharing the video, the Etawah Police confirmed that a case has been registered under the appropriate sections and they are actively working towards apprehending the accused at the earliest. Furthermore, Etawah District Rural SP Satyapal Singh reiterated the same in an interview with Etv Bharat.
Also, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital, Jyoti Yadav gave a statement to the media saying that Shivam attacked her on suspicion of dowry issues and extra-marital affairs. None of the news reports related to the incident attributed any love jihad angle to the incident. Moreover, the SHO of Bakewar Police Station confirmed to Factly that a case has been registered against Shivam Yadav.
