A post with a video showing police apprehending a burqa-clad man is doing rounds on social media with the claim that the person in the burqa is an RSS member and he is arrested for waving a Pakistani flag. Through this article lets fact-check the claim made in the post.
Claim: Police arrested a Burqa-clad man affiliated to RSS for waving a Pakistan flag.
Fact: According to news reports, the man in the video was arrested for smuggling liquor by disguising as a burqa-clad woman. The incident took place in Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh and the incident has nothing to with RSS and Pakistan flag. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.
Reverse image search of the screenshots of the video led us to an article which published the images of the video in the post. According to the article, the incident took place in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh and the men in the video were caught bootlegging liquor in the disguise of women.
When searched on YouTube using the keywords ‘men in burqa smuggling liquor in Kurnool’ we found a news channel video reporting the same news. According to the video, the man in the disguise of a woman was arrested for bootlegging liquor into AP. In the video, it is nowhere mentioned that man in the burqa is affiliated to RSS or the man was waving a flag. Kurnool SP Fakkeerappa Kaginelli has also clarified that the case was related to smuggling NDPL (non-duty paid liquor) from Telangana to AP.
To sum it up, the arrest of burqa-clad man has nothing to do with RSS and Pakistan flag. They were arrested for smuggling NDPL (non-duty paid liquor) from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh.
