A video of a few men with skull caps halting a bus and beating a bus driver is being widely shared on social media with the claim that the incident occurred in Jafrabad (Delhi). Let’s check the authenticity of the claim.

Claim: Video of men with skull caps attacking a bus driver in Jafrabad (Delhi).

Fact: The incident in the video took place in Aurangabad (Maharashtra). Also, there is no communal angle linked to it. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE

When searched on YouTube with the keywords ‘Bus driver beaten’, the same clip was found in the news video of ‘ABP Majha’. As per the news video, the driver of ‘Kannad-Aurangabad-Shirpur’ bus was beaten up by few men as the driver had earlier hit their car when he tried to overtake on a highway. The same information about the incident can also be read in the ‘Times of India’ article.

When media agencies contacted BP Rout, Kannad Police Sub-Inspector, they were told that there is no communal angle to the incident and it was a personal clash that happened after the bus had bumped against the car.

PIB Fact check also made a tweet about the video and termed the claim as fake.

To conclude, a video of men with skull caps attacking a bus driver in Aurangabad (Maharashtra) is being shared as that of Jafrabad (Delhi).
