A video is being circulated on social media (here, here, and here) with the claim that it shows a Muslim girl in West Bengal slapping a Hindu girl and forcing her into a relationship with her brother. Claim: The video shows a Muslim girl in West Bengal slapping a Hindu girl and forcing her into a relationship with her brother.

Fact: The viral video was filmed at Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is unrelated to West Bengal, India. Talking to BOOM Bangladesh, the school principal confirmed that the incident occurred two years ago, involved only Muslim students, and stemmed from a personal dispute—not a communal issue. However, we could not independently verify the exact reason behind the fight or the full context, including whether any communal angle was involved. What is certain is that the video is from Bangladesh. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

Upon closely observing the viral video, the school badge on the uniform is visible, and the text on it reads “Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School” (in Bengali: শহীদ মুক্তিযোদ্ধা গার্লস হাই স্কুল). A quick internet search revealed that the school is located in Mirpur, Dhaka.

We compared the badge on the uniform with the official logo of Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School and found them to be a match. The comparison can be seen below.

The official Facebook page of Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School features several photos of students in uniforms identical to those seen in the viral video. This visual match further confirms that the students in the video belong to the same school located in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The location in the video was identified and geolocated as Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School, located at Section-12, Block-D, Road-18, Pallabi, Mirpur, Dhaka-1216, Bangladesh. The buildings and surroundings seen in the background match the visuals of the school, confirming that the video was filmed there. The comparison can be seen below.

An X post (archived) by the West Bengal Police, dated 28 July 2025, featured a screenshot from the same video, clarifying that the video is not from West Bengal, and it is from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Speaking to BOOM Bangladesh, Khodeza Begum Rina, the principal of Shaheed Muktijoddha Girls’ High School, confirmed that the incident took place at the school two years ago and was resolved at the time. She stated that the students involved are currently attending school as usual. Rina also clarified that there was no communal angle to the incident, as all individuals seen in the video are Muslim. She explained that the clash occurred due to a failed relationship, which led to a fight between two girls.

However, we could not independently verify the exact reason behind the fight or the full context, including whether any communal angle was involved. What can be confirmed is that the video was filmed in Mirpur, Bangladesh, and is unrelated to West Bengal, India.

To sum up, a video of a fight between female students at a Bangladesh school is falsely shared as from West Bengal.
