Video from Pakistan is being falsely shared as Indian security forces torturing Muslims in Kashmir

A video purportedly showing a few men in black t-shirts with text ‘Police’ on them, beating few women in a house is being shared widely on Facebook with the claim that the video is of Indian security forces beating and torturing Muslims in Kashmir. Let’s try to analyze the claim made in the post.

The video was posted a month ago on Facebook but it is again being shared now.

Claim: Video of Indian security forces beating and torturing Muslims in Kashmir

Fact: The video is from Pakistan. The Sindh Province Police have said that it is a fake video that was designed by a few individuals to malign the reputation of Sindh Police. So, the claim is FALSE.    

When the video in the post was run through ‘InVid’ plugin, several keyframes were obtained. When these keyframes are subjected to Yandex reverse image search, a search result led to a YouTube video uploaded on May 6, 2019, and it had the title ‘Sindh Police attack on innocent Women at Sindh | Pakistan’.

Another search result was also foundsuggesting that the video is from Sindh, Pakistan. So, when looked for further information on the Twitter account of ‘Sindh Police’, a tweet with the news video regarding the same clip was found. The tweet had the following message- ‘Few Days back a video was made viral on Social media in which People in police uniform were shown torturing women while raiding a house.This video proved fake and it was designed to malign Sindh Police in general and Jamshoro Police in particular.

To conclude, a video from Pakistan is being falsely shared as Indian security forces beating and torturing Muslims in Kashmir.
