A video of an old man being dragged and stripped naked by a person in public is doing rounds on social media claiming that the ‘Hindutva goons’ are doing so to a Muslim man in India. FACTLY has found that the incident in the video is related to Bangladesh, not India. The incident took place at Chakaria Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district on 24 May 2020. The video shows Awami League local leader Nurul Alam (72) being dragged and stripped by Jobo League local leader Ansur Alam (35). The victim ’s son Ashraf Hossain filed a case with the Chakaria Police Station regarding the incident. Ashraf alleged that Arej Khatun and Badiul Alam are the instigators as they have a long-standing enmity with their family and it is the cause of the incident.
