Veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra is alive; It is ‘Black Friday’ actor Jitendra Shastri who passed away on 15 October 2022

A post is being shared on social media claiming that veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra, popularly known as ‘Jumping Jack’, has recently passed away. Let’s verify the claim made in the post. 

Claim: Veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra Kapoor has passed away.

Fact: Bollywood actor Jeetendra Kapoor is still alive and continuing as one of the Board of Directors of Balaji Telefilms Limited. It is the ‘Black Friday’ fame Jitendra Shastri who passed away recently on 15 October 2022. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched to check whether veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra Kapoor was dead or alive, we could not find any news report confirming the his death. If Jeetendra Kapoor had recently passed away, it would have been widely reported. 80-year-old Jeetendra Kapoor published his last Instagram post on 03 November 2022. Jeetendra Kapoor’s children Ekta Kapoor and Tushar Kapoor also did not announce the death of their father recently on their social media handles. According to IMDB and other film websites, Jeetendra Kapoor is still alive and running a production company Balaji Telefilms Limited, along with his daughter Ekta Kapoor. Jeetendra Kapoor is still continuing as one of the Board of Directors of Balaji Telefilms Limited.

Expressing his sadness over the passing away of veteran Telugu Superstar Krishna, on 15 November 2022, Jeetendra Kapoor told media, “Krishna and his brother Hanumantha Rao were the producers of the majority of my Hindi remakes of their Telugu films. Their Padmalaya Studios produced my Takkar, Himmatwala, Justice Choudhary , Mawaali, Qaidi, Kaamyaab, Hoshiyar, Pataal Bhairavi,etc. In fact from the fifteen films Padmalaya produced in Hindi, eleven starred me. Toh aana jana laga rehta tha. I remember meeting Krishna and Bhabhi in Hyderabad in the 1960s when I wanted to do a remake of his blockbuster Gudachari 116”. Further, Jeetendra Kapoor thanked Krishna for bringing the espionage genre to Indian cinema and said that Farz wouldn’t have happened if Krishna had not done Gudachari.

It is Jitendra Shastri, an actor who played popular characters in the ‘Black Friday’ film and Mirzapur’ series, who had passed away on 15 October 2022. Several news websites published articles reporting the death of Jitendra Shastri.

To sum it up, veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra Kapoor is still alive and is continuing as one of the Board of Directors of Balaji Telefilms Limited.
