A video is being shared on social media claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting the game Chicken Road 2 (a real money-earning game) and asking people to invest and play. Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The video shows PM Narendra Modi promoting the game Chicken Road 2 and asking people to invest real money.

Fact: The viral video alleging that PM Narendra Modi promoted the Chicken Road 2 game and urged people to invest real money is digitally altered. The original visuals are from an April 2024 event where PM Modi interacted with gamers and discussed the gaming industry. At no point did he endorse Chicken Road 2 or any real money game. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to a video uploaded on Prime Minister Modi’s official YouTube channel on 13 April 2024, showing the same visuals. According to the video description, PM Modi interacted with some of India’s leading gamers, Tirth Mehta, Payal Dhare, Animesh Agarwal, Anshu Bisht, Naman Mathur, Mithilesh Patankar, and Ganesh Gangadhar, where he played PC and VR games with them. During the interaction, they discussed topics such as the growth of the gaming industry, government support for creative fields, the difference between gaming and gambling, and women’s participation in gaming.

We found that the viral video was created using visuals from this event. However, PM Modi was not promoting any real money game in the original video (here, here, and here); he was playing games. In the viral video, PM Modi’s phone screen has been digitally edited to display the Chicken Road 2 game. A comparison is shown below.

We also found that several media outlets reported this meeting, but none of the reports mentioned that PM Modi promoted the game Chicken Road 2 or asked people to invest real money. (here, here, and here).

It is important to note that in August 2025, the Government of India introduced and passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which imposes a blanket ban on all online games involving monetary transactions. As a result, platforms offering real-money games — such as Dream11, Games24x7, Winzo, GamesKraft, 99Games, KheloFantasy, and My11Circle, will be required to shut down real-money games on their apps.

To sum up, this viral video of PM Narendra Modi allegedly promoting the Chicken Road 2 game and asking people to invest real money is fake.
