This viral video of CM Yogi purportedly asking PM Modi to resign if he cannot attack Bangladesh is fake

A video circulating on social media (here, here, and here) claims to show Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath speaking in the Assembly about the alleged mob lynching of a Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, in Bangladesh, and purportedly urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign if he cannot attack Bangladesh.

In the video, CM Yogi can be heard saying (translation from Hindi to English): “If Bangladesh and Pakistan had not been created, people would not have been burned alive in this manner. And if anyone had done so, they too would know what kind of fate they would have met. Prime Minister Modi, if you cannot attack Bangladesh, then resign from your position as Prime Minister. We, the soldiers of our faith, will make Bangladesh a part of undivided India once again through our holy war“.

Claim: The video shows Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign if he cannot attack Bangladesh.

Fact: The video is digitally manipulated. While Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath did speak in the Assembly about the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh and criticised the opposition, he did not ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign or call for an attack on Bangladesh. The original assembly visuals does not contain these remarks, and the viral clip uses fabricated audio added to genuine visuals. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

To verify the claim, we did a Google search using relevant keywords, but found no credible reports or official information about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign if he cannot attack Bangladesh. It would have been widely reported if CM Yogi had made such a statement.

We then did a reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video, which led us to a video published by ANI News on its YouTube channel on 24 December 2025, titled “Don’t come supporting Bangladeshis, CM Yogi warns Samajwadi Party in fiery speech.” The ANI video contains only the first part of the viral clip. According to the video description, CM Yogi Adityanath, while speaking in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, warned the Samajwadi Party and referred to the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh, criticised selective outrage over international issues, and cautioned the Bangladesh government. However, the ANI video does not include any portion where he asks Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign or calls for an attack on Bangladesh.

We noticed that the ANI video credits its source as the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. An internet search led us to the extended version of the same footage uploaded on the YouTube channel of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, titled “Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Winter Session (24 December 2025) Day 4”. On closely reviewing the full video, we found that the visuals matching the viral clip appear at around the 5:26:50 mark. While Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath did speak aggressively about the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh and used the incident to attack the opposition, particularly the Samajwadi Party, he did not, at any point, ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign or call for an attack on Bangladesh. The viral audio has been digitally added, confirming that the video is fake and manipulated, with original visuals paired with fabricated audio.

To sum up, this viral video of CM Yogi purportedly asking PM Modi to resign if he cannot attack Bangladesh is fake.
