Claim: A Muslim man named Nadeem was brutally beaten by a Hindu mob in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Fact: There is no communal angle to this incident. According to the FIR filed in this case, the incident occurred on 03 March 2024, in Fulat village, when Nadeem allegedly attempted to molest Afzal’s daughter. All the individuals involved, including both the accused and the complainants, belong to the same Muslim community. Muzaffarnagar police also refuted this claim in response to a post with a similar claim on X(Twitter). Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
To verify the authenticity of the viral claim, we conducted a relevant keyword search and found a clarification post (archive) on X (formerly Twitter) by the Muzaffarnagar police on 13 March 2024, regarding this incident. The Muzaffarnagar police clarification post states,“The case pertains to the same community in which Ratanpuri police station has registered a case under relevant sections on 04.03.2024 and arrested 03 accused and sent them to jail. Advance legal action is underway by Ratanpuri police station.” This clearly indicates that there is no communal angle in this incident.
To know more about this incident, we checked the FIR filed in this case on the Uttar Pradesh police website. According to the FIR, the incident occurred in Fulat village within the jurisdiction of the Ratanpuri police station around 9:30 pm on 03 March 2024. According to the complainant, Afzal, the son of Munna, named Nadeem, entered the house via the terrace and began molesting his daughter. When she protested and shouted, Afzal’s sons arrived and apprehended Nadeem, who managed to escape. Later, Nadeem, along with his brothers Naushad, Dilshad, Mudassir, and Sonu, returned to Afzal’s home, assaulting him and his sons with sticks and spears, and issuing death threats.
Based on this information, it is evident that there is no communal angle to this incident, as all individuals involved, both accused and complainants, belong to the same community.
