Claim: The video shows author and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty promoting an AI-based investment platform.

Fact: The viral video does not show Sudha Murty promoting any AI-based investment platform. The visuals are taken from a 2021 podcast on the BeerBiceps YouTube channel, and there is no reference to such an investment scheme in the original video. The clip has been digitally altered by adding fake audio, which an AI voice detection tool has also flagged as likely a deepfake. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

We searched online using relevant keywords to verify whether Sudha Murty had promoted any AI-based investment platform. However, we did not find any credible reports supporting this claim.

We then conducted a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to a podcast video uploaded on the YouTube channel of BeerBiceps (Ranveer Allahbadia) on 26 February 2021. In the podcast, Sudha Murty can be seen wearing the same outfit and seated against the same background as in the viral clip.

We also reviewed the entire podcast video and found no instance where Sudha Murty promoted an AI-based investment platform. This confirms that the viral clip has been digitally manipulated. The audio in the viral video has been added digitally to visuals from the original podcast and is not part of what she actually said.

We then analysed the viral video using the Hiya AI voice detection tool. The results indicate that the audio in the clip is likely a deepfake. This confirms that the video is fake and digitally altered, with the original visuals paired with manipulated audio.

Factly has earlier debunked several deepfake videos featuring well-known personalities that were used to mislead and scam the public. Some of those relevant fact-check articles can be found here, here, here, here, and here.

To sum up, this viral video claiming to show Sudha Murty promoting an AI-based investment platform is a deepfake.
