Video showing hundreds of patients in a hospital’s OPD (Outpatient Department) waiting for their turn without following social distancing norms is doing the rounds claiming that it is the present situation at Victoria hospital in Bengaluru. In the video, a man claiming himself to be a doctor (Rana Singh) can be heard begging for help. The same video is also being shared (archived) as the situation at Delhi RML hospital. Let’s check the authenticity of that claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post could be seen here.

Claim: Video showing the current situation at Victoria hospital in Bengaluru.

Fact: Bengaluru City Police Commissioner has clarified that the video is not from an OPD at Victoria hospital in Bengaluru. The Police have also informed that they even arrested a person who had spread that false information. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we subjected the screenshots of the video to reverse image search technique, a Facebook post claiming the video to be the situation in Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, Bihar was found. With that information, when we searched with keywords, a video of ‘India TV’ with a few visuals of the video posted was found.

In the video, the person who recorded the video can be heard saying his name is Rana Singh and he is a doctor at the hospital. When we looked on the website of ‘Mahavir Cancer Sansthan’, we found that his name has been listed as a resident Oncologist in the chemotherapy department.

When we searched on Google with keywords ‘Victoria hospital in Bengaluru situation’, an article of ‘Deccan Herald’ was found in the search results. The article reported that Bengaluru Police have arrested a person Sameerullah for posting the video of crowded OPD and passing it off as that of Victoria Hospital. The article also reported that the Police have clarified that the video is from an OPD in Bihar hospital. Few other news articles that reported about the video can be seen here and here.

When we searched with the above information, a tweet made in this regard by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner was found. In the tweet, it is written that the City Crime Branch has arrested a person for circulating a fake video as that of Victoria hospital. The photos of the arrested man and a visual from the posted video can also be seen.

To sum it up, the video showing an overcrowded outpatient department is not of Victoria hospital in Bengaluru.
