A post with a video is being widely shared on social media. The video shows five men falling into a drain as the concrete slab under them breaks. The post description mentions the location as Amar Mahal, Chembur. Let’s fact-check the claim in this article.

Claim: Visuals of five men falling into a drain as the concrete slab under them breaks; this incident happened in Chembur (Maharashtra).

Fact: This incident happened in Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) on 07 April 2022. Since an incident from Jaisalmer is being shared as an incident from Chembur, the post is MISLEADING.

After searching the internet using relevant keywords, we found a Facebook post with the same video. In the post, it is written – ‘Jaisalmer: drain belts broken, 5 people fell, watch viral video‘.

Further, searching on the internet with relevant keywords, we found few news reports about this incident. Reportedly, this incident happened in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer on 07 April 2022. Five men were standing in front of a puncture shop, and suddenly the slab under them broke, and they fell into a dry drain. All of this was recorded on a CCTV nearby. Other reports on this incident can be read here, here, and here. We can conclude from this that the post incorrectly claims this incident happened in Chembur.

To summarise, a video of an incident in Jaisalmer is falsely shared as an incident from Chembur, Maharashtra.
