A video is circulating on social media claiming to show AIR Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh “admitting” to India losing six jets and a drone during the recent conflict with Pakistan. The post is being shared with the caption: “Breaking: Finally, Indian Air Force Chief admits India did lose 6 jets and one Heron UAV during 7th May air engagements.” Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows Air Chief Marshal AP Singh admitting to India losing six jets and a drone during the conflict with Pakistan in May 2025.
Fact: The viral clip is edited. The line about India losing six jets and a Heron UAV during the 07 May 2025 air engagement is not part of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh’s original speech at the 16th Air Chief Marshal LM Katre Memorial Lecture in Bengaluru. It was digitally added. Government’s PIB Fact Check also clarified that the video is an AI-generated deepfake and that Air Chief Marshal Singh made no such statement. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
We conducted a Google keyword search to determine whether Air Chief Marshal AP Singh made any statement indicating that India lost six jets and a drone during the recent conflict with Pakistan. However, we found no media reports supporting such a statement.
We then noticed that the viral video carries the logo of the ANI news agency. To verify its source, we checked ANI’s official YouTube channel and found an extended version of the same video, published on 09 August 2025, titled “Hit 5 Pak Jets, Op Sindoor Dream Come True – IAF Chief AP Singh Reveals Details of Op Sindoor.” We reviewed the full video and found that the viral clip was taken from the 29:00-minute mark. In the original speech, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh says: “That is Shahbaz, their Jacobabad airfield, one of them again, a major airfield that was attacked. And here there is an F-16 hangar, which you can see here. And here, this is the photograph, again from open source, from one of their earlier pictures of the same hangar. And here, that hangar one half of the hangar is gone. I am sure there were some aircraft inside which got damaged there. So, if I can just sum it up, we were able to get there at least two command and control centres, like Murid and Chaklala. I have shown you one of the pictures.”
While speaking at the 16th Air Chief Marshal LM Katre Memorial Lecture in Marathahalli, Bengaluru, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh made no statement about India losing six jets and a drone during the conflict with Pakistan, making it clear that an external, digitally created audio was inserted.
Additionally, we found an X post by PIB Fact Check, dated 11 August 2025, debunking the viral video. It stated that a manipulated video is being shared online, falsely showing Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh admitting to India losing six jets and one Heron UAV during the 7 May 2025 air engagements. PIB clarified that this is an AI-generated deepfake video and that the Air Chief Marshal has made no such statement.
To sum up, this video of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh admitting to India losing six jets and a drone during Operation Sindoor is fake.
