Fact: The video shows statistics from various reports and says that most people in the world are leaving their original religion and adopting Islam. However, nowhere in the video, it was mentioned that the Muslim population increased by 15 lakhs in 5 years. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
On a relevant keyword search, we found the original video on the Aaj Tak YouTube channel. We found that the data shown in the video is acquired from various international research reports published between 2015 and 2023. Nowhere in the video, it was mentioned that the Muslim population increased by 15 lakhs in 5 years. Instead, the video mentions that as per a recent Pew article, 13 lakh people converted from other religions to Islam, and 8,80,000 people converted to other religions from Islam based on an article published by Pew in 2017, showing statistics of cumulative changes due to religious switching during 2015-2020.
The rest of the video shows the statistics projecting the religious composition of England and Wales which states that people opting for no religion is increasing. Further, projections from the World Population Review which predict that Islam will have nearly caught up to Christianity, the most popular religion in the world by 2050 are shown.
The video reiterates the same claim by showing the total fertility rate by religion during 2010-2015, published by Pew Research. By showing this, the video concludes that according to the data on religious conversion, in 200 years, only the population of Islam and people opting for no religion will remain dominant.
