The purported tweet reads, “Indian stand with Israel ? Who ask you to support us ? Even a cents your country can’t effort to settle-up a pandemic covid-19 in your country. Stop dreaming in a day time”. We received a request on our WhatsApp tipline to check the authenticity of this tweet. Let’s fact-check this claim through this article.
Claim: The Israel Defence Force posted a tweet ridiculing India for supporting their country.
Fact: The Israel Defence Force has not made such remarks against India on Twitter. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the claim’s veracity, we performed a keyword search on the internet to see if any media outlets have reported the Israel Defence Force making such a statement on India through X (formerly Twitter). This yielded no credible news reports supporting the viral claim.
We further checked the official verified X handle of the Israel Defence Force to see whether they made such a tweet on the said date, i.e. 15 May 2021. We found no such tweet on their page. This makes it clear that the viral screenshot of the alleged tweet is Fake and most probably a graphic created using digital graphic designing tools like Photoshop, illustrator, etc. Furthermore, speaking to the fact-checking website ‘CHECKYOURFACT’, an IDF spokesperson refuted the viral claim by labelling it as “Completely False.”
