To check the veracity of the claim, we performed a keyword search on the internet to see if any mainstream media outlet reported him making such statements. This search did not yield any credible sources that backed the claim. Generally, any statement that threatens national security would be widely reported by the Indian mainstream media, which did not happen in this case.
A further search on Khalid Mehmood Abbasi’s YouTube channel and Facebook profile to see whether he made the purported statements threatening India by drawing parallels to the Hamas attack on Israel revealed that he had not made such statements after the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October 2023 (here).
Additionally, we also found a tweet made by Khalid Mehmood Abbasi. Responding to a graphic identical to the viral graphic containing this purported statement, Khalid wrote, “See the works of Indians”, implying he has not made such statements.
