After a series of photos from PM Modi’s Lakshadweep visit went viral on social media, a photo of him clad in a scuba diving suit is being shared on social media, claiming it as an unseen photo of this visit. Let’s fact-check this claim through this article.
Claim: An unseen photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Lakshadweep visit.
Fact: PM Modi shared a series of photos of his visit to the Lakshadweep Islands on his official social media accounts. None of these posts contained the viral photo. Moreover, after running this photo to Hive’s AI detector, Factly found that it could most likely be an AI-generated photo. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the viral claim, we first skimmed through PM Modi’s official social media handles. Through this, we found that he posted several photos of his visit to Lakshadweep on X, Instagram, and Facebook. The first series was posted on 4 January 2024 on his ‘X’.
None of these photos contained the viral photo. Moreover, there are many differences between PM Modi’s viral photo and the original pictures of his scuba diving adventure from Lakshadweep.
To check if the viral photo was generated using Artificial Intelligence, we ran it through the Hive AI detector, which gives away the percentage likeliness of a photo to be generated using AI. The results showed a 100% likelihood of being generated by AI.
To sum up, this is not a photo of PM Modi from his recent visit to the Lakshadweep Islands.
