Today, 05 February 2025, voters in Delhi are heading to the polls to elect representatives for all 70 Vidhan Sabha seats (here and here). As election discussions heat up across news channels including poll predictions and analyses (here and here), an alleged ‘India Today’ pre-poll survey result is circulating on social media. The viral image (here and here) claims that the survey predicts 48 seats for BJP, 22 for AAP, and none for Congress or other parties. Let’s verify the authenticity of this image.

Claim: The viral graphic image shows the resulls of India Today’s pre-poll election survey of the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections.

Fact: This graphic image is not available on any official website of India Today, and the India Today Group has clarified that the image is fake. Hence, the claim is FALSE.

To trace the origin of the image, we conducted a reverse image search on Google but found no evidence of it originating from any of the official India Today sources. Next, we performed a keyword search for “India Today pre-poll survey,” which also yielded no reports matching the viral claim. We then checked India Today’s official website, where there are multiple articles about the Delhi elections but none about any such pre-poll survey. Lastly, we examined their YouTube channel and there was no mention of such a survey either.

Furthermore, India Today clarified on its official X handle on 03 February 2025, using the same viral image, that fake polls falsely attributed to Aaj Tak and India Today were being circulated ahead of the Delhi Elections 2025. They stated that the India Today Group had not conducted any exit polls for Delhi, confirming that the viral pre-poll election survey was a false allegation against India Today.

A few YouTube channels (here and here) have published what they call as pre-poll surveys. At the same time, the Election Commission of India has banned exit polls on 5 February, from 7 AM to 6:30 PM. The Delhi election results are set to be declared on 08 February.

To sum up, the graphic image of the pre-poll survey of the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections by India Today is fake.
