Social media is flooded with posts about the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest of 2024. Reportedly, a man named Shubhkaran Singh lost his life during a police clash. In this context, a post showcasing a picture of a cooking utensil pierced by a bullet is being shared, claiming it to be from the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest. Let’s verify this claim through this fact-check article.

Claim: This photo of a bullet lodged in a cooking utensil is from the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest of 2024.

Fact: The viral photo is not related to the 2024 farmers’ protest. Instead, the picture originated from Bangladesh and was taken during a cross-border firing incident at Shahparir Dwip and Saint Martin in Teknaf. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To check the veracity of the claim, we performed a reverse image search on the viral photo, which led us to several news reports from Bangladesh (here, here and here) containing the same image.

These news reports from February 2024 provided a backdrop of the border districts of Myanmar witnessing a firing incident. Dhaka Mail reported that “Bullets and mortar shells fired from Myanmar often hit the houses across the border. Between Monday night and Tuesday afternoon, at least three residential houses on the border were hit by mortar shells.”

A report by ’24onbd’ containing the viral photo added that during a heavy gunfire and shelling incident in ‘Teknaf’ at the Bangladesh border, a bullet struck a cooking utensil. This reveals that the viral photo is unrelated to the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest. A few more news reports on this border firing can be read here and here

To sum up, the viral photo of a bullet lodged in a cooking utensil is not from the Delhi Chalo farmers’ protest but from a border conflict incident in Bangladesh.
