A registration link (archived) is being shared widely on social media asking people to fill up so that they can get a monthly unemployment allowance of up to Rs. 3800 (according to age) being provided by the government under the ‘PM Berojgaari Bhatta Yojna – 2021’ scheme. Let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

The archived version of the post can be found here.

Claim: Register on the given link and get a monthly unemployment allowance from the government under the ‘PM Berojgaari Bhatta Yojna – 2021’ scheme.

Fact: There is no central government direct benefit transfer scheme with such a name.  It is a fraudulent link. The link redirects the user to a private website and asks for personal details. It also asks the user to share the message with 5 other people to complete the registration. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also clarified in May 2020 that the government is not running any such scheme. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On clicking the link given in the post, it redirects the user to a website – “https://www.puchhlo.com/pmrojgar/home.html”. If the government is providing unemployment allowance, it does the registration through an official portal, not through a private website. Also, on filling up the details in the registration form given on the website, it redirects again to a different page, where the user is asked to share the link with 5 other people to complete the registration. No government initiative or scheme asks people to share a link on WhatsApp to complete the registration. It is a fraudulent website.

There is no central government direct benefit transfer scheme with such a name.  Also, when similar posts went viral in 2020, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified in May 2020 that the government is not running any such scheme.

There are also other blogs and websites with similar registration links that claim that the government is providing free laptops, smartphones, and scholarships. FACTLY has previously debunked those claims and wrote fact-check articles, which can be read here and here.

To sum it up, there is no ‘PM Berojgaari Bhatta Yojna – 2021’ scheme providing a monthly unemployment allowance.
