The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially released the schedule for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Meanwhile, a video of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta is going viral on social media (here, here, and here), where she allegedly says, “Those who cannot manage their own family, how will they manage Bihar? That is why we need to give Bihar’s reins into strong hands.” The post is being shared with claims that she is referring to Prime Minister Modi. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: The video shows Delhi CM Rekha Gupta criticising Prime Minister Modi ahead of the 2025 Bihar elections.
Fact: The viral video does not show Delhi CM Rekha Gupta criticising Prime Minister Modi. The clip is from a rally in Bihar Sharif on 15 October 2025, where she was campaigning for BJP candidate Sunil Kumar. In the video, she is seen praising the NDA alliance and the Nitish–Modi duo, while criticising the RJD party and Lalu Yadav’s family. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search of key frames from the viral video led us to a longer version uploaded on the YouTube channel ANI Bharat on 15 October 2025, titled “Bihar Assembly election | Delhi CM Rekha Gupta public rally in Bihar Sharif | Sunil Kumar | BJP.” The video shows Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta addressing a rally in Bihar Sharif while campaigning for BJP candidate Sunil Kumar as part of the NDA’s election campaign for the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls. The viral portion was taken from the 37:05-minute mark, where Rekha Gupta is seen praising the NDA alliance and the Nitish–Modi duo, while criticising the opposition—apparently referring to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party and Lalu Yadav’s family. During her speech, she remarked, “The kerosene in the lantern has now run out. It lacks light. Now is the era of LED lights,” clearly suggesting that her comments were directed at the RJD.

We also did not find any reports of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta criticising Prime Minister Modi ahead of the 2025 Bihar elections. For context, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was expelled from the RJD for six years in May 2025 following a controversial social media post about a long-term relationship, which he later claimed was due to a hacked account. After his expulsion, Tej Pratap announced that he would contest the Bihar Assembly elections independently. He has now launched his own party, Janshakti Janta Dal, and will be contesting from the Mahua seat in Vaishali district, Bihar.
To sum up, the viral video shows Delhi CM Rekha Gupta criticising the RJD, not PM Modi
