A post with a video of a scuffle between hawkers and police is being shared across social media platforms with the claim that the incident happened in Bihar. Through this article let’s fact-check the claim made in the post.

Fact: The video actually shows a scuffle which broke out between hawkers and police in Mankhurd area, Mumbai when the latter tried to topple the cart of a street vendor for selling vegetables in an area contained due to the spread of the coronavirus. The video has nothing to do with Bihar. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Google search with relevant keywords led us to an April 2020 news video which carried visuals as in the post. According to the report, the video shows a scuffle which broke out between hawkers and police in Mankhurd area, Mumbai when the latter tried to topple the cart of a street vendor for selling vegetables in an area contained due to the spread of the coronavirus. With this, it can be concluded that the video has nothing to do with Bihar.

Further search led us to a few more news articles dating back to April 2020 which reported the same incident. Even these reports claim that the incident happened in Mankhurd, Mumbai. These articles can be seen here and here. With all these, we can conclude that the scuffle actually took place during the time of lockdown in Mumbai and the incident has nothing to do with Bihar.

In the light of the ongoing Bihar elections, posts like these are being shared on social media platforms with misleading claims.
