A screenshot of a Twitter profile is being shared widely on social media with a claim that the official Twitter handle of ‘Office of the Union Territory of Ladakh’ has been renamed as ‘Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh (U.T.), India’. But, FACTLY has found that the Twitter handle (@GB_Ladakh_India) is not an official handle. The profile was created in May 2020 and it also has now removed ‘Official’ from its description (In the posted image, it can be seen that the profile description mentions that it is an official profile). Also, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified that it is a fake handle and the UT of Ladakh has only two official Twitter handles – @DIPR_Leh & @InformationDep4.
