A video through a post is being widely shared on social media claiming that a Hindu girl in Surat was beheaded by a Muslim boy when she refused to convert to Islam. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

Fact: The incident in the video took place in Surat, Gujarat. But the boy who killed the woman in the video is not a Muslim. According to Kamrej police officials, both the boy (accused) and the girl (victim) belong to the same community (Gujarati Patel). Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When reverse image search is done on the screenshots of the video, the same video was found in a Times of India article. The incident in the video took place on 12 February 2022 in Surat (Kamrej area), and the name of the accused is ‘Fenil Goyani’ who was a ‘school-time friend’ of the victim, ‘Grishma Vekariya’. According to the police, the incident is being investigated to know what led to such a situation.
The accused, ‘Fenil Goyani’ after slitting the throat of the victim, ran towards an open plot. After many people gathered, looking at the situation, the man himself slit his own hands. Soon, the police disarmed and detained the accused. The victim’s body and two of her injured relatives were taken to SMIMER hospital for treatment.
The accused, ‘Fenil Goyani’ is not a Muslim. According to ‘Ahmedabad Mirror’, both the victim and accused belong to the same community. When Factly contacted the Kamrej Police Station, the Police confirmed that the boy was not a Muslim and that both the boy and girl belong to the same community (Gujarati Patel).
To sum it up, the boy killing the girl in the video is not a Muslim; both of them belong to the same community.
